Swansea City

Founded in 1912, Swansea City are one of the biggest clubs in Wales and one of five Welsh sides that play in the English football system. The Swans have a long history within the English Football League, with two stints in the top flight. The Real EFL will walk you through the history of the club, list their achievements and honours and preview the current team and their possible futures.
Swansea City Updates
Swansea City are in their seventh straight season in the Championship and now in their first full campaign with Luke Williams as the manager of the club. Since their relegation they have been a strong upper-midtable team within the division, making the play-offs twice in previous seasons. So far, The Jacks have continued this trend with fairly consistent performances but not enough to push them into play-off contention.
Swansea City Transfer News and Rumours
With the transfer window closed until January, Swansea City have mainly focused on securing new contracts for their star players. They have already sealed a new deal for Liam Cullen and are actively working to tie defenders Ben Cabango and Harry Darling down for the foreseeable future with their contracts running out at the end of the season. Right-back Josh Key is another player that Williams is trying to persuade to extend his stay in South Wales. Swansea have also made moves in the free agent market, signing former Swan and Hull City full-back Cyrus Christie in November.
Swansea City Signings
Swansea City were fairly busy in the summer transfer window, making eight signings, with nine players leaving the club, albeit with four moves being temporary. Cyrus Christie was a mid-season addition, joining as a free agent.

Swansea City History
Swansea City were founded as Swansea Town AFC in 1912 as an attempt to bring football into a rugby-dominated area. They very quickly became a force in Welsh football, winning the cup in their first season in existence and played in the Southern League. They moved into the English Football League in 1920, joining the Third Division. They would be a lower-league club for most of its existence but under former Liverpool and Wales striker John Toshack, would rise through the divisions to play in the First Division for the first time in 1981. Their success would not last long though and soon enough plummeted back down the divisions.
Their move to the Liberty Stadium in 2005 coincided with the club's latest growth, becoming a staple of the top two divisions of English football. They would be promoted to the Premier League in 2011 under Brendan Rodgers, who would leave the following season to become Liverpool manager. They would win their first major honour in 2013 with the EFL Cup, beating fourth division side Bradford City in the final and qualified for the UEFA Europa League. They would be relegated in 2018 and have remained in the Championship since then.
