Lincoln City Have ‘Received Offers’ For Promising Midfielder

Lincoln City midfielder Ethan Erhahon has been the subject of interest from Championship, and even other League One, clubs over the last few months, and it looks like the Scotsman may be leaving the LNER Stadium in the coming weeks.

Multiple Clubs Interested In Erhahon – Offers Made

After it was revealed that the 24-year-old had been left out of the Imps’ squad for their preseason friendly against Grimsby, Ben Jacobs has reported that Wigan Athletic and Swansea City have made bids for the midfielder.

Jacobs also says that Bolton Wanderers and Oxford United have enquired about Erhahon, and Lincoln have told potential suitors that it would likely take a club-record fee to prise him away from Michael Skubala’s side.

The Imps may be slightly more willing to sell the midfielder in the coming weeks as he is entering the final year of his contract. Any potential deal in January would be for a cut price, or they could even lose one of their most valuable assets for free next summer.

Who Would Erhahon Suit Best?

Moving to the Brick Community Stadium would surely be a sideways move for the 24-year-old.

Wigan finished last season in 15th place in League One, below Lincoln. They have made a couple of good signings in the form of Dara Costelloe and Fraser Murray, but Ryan Lowe’s side do not yet look ready to fight for promotion into the Championship.

Moving to Swansea, on the other hand, looks much more appealing.

Alan Sheehan’s side have already looked to recruit the best players from League One during the summer, securing the signings of former Bolton captain Ricardo Santos and Leyton Orient star Ethan Galbraith, whilst Cameron Burgess should be an excellent addition on a free transfer.

However, Erhahon will have to face much stiffer competition for a starting spot in Wales. Melker Widell is linking up with the Swans’ first team following his move from AaB, and Goncalo Franco is coming off the back of a good debut season.

Writer’s View

If Lincoln City had been able to push for the playoffs last season, they may have been able to present Erhahon with a project that could have matched his ambitions.

But the Imps had to settle for another season in mid-table, meaning it might be time to cash in on the 24-year-old.

A move to Wales would suit the 24-year-old more than a move to Wigan, as the likes of Galbraith could be used at full-back, whilst Widell could be used in a more advanced role.

Oxford United would also give Erhahon the opportunity to play in a higher division, but it remains to be seen if the U’s are willing to act on their interest.
