Wrexham have launched an ambitious move for former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The Danish international left Old Trafford this summer after three years at the club, as Ruben Amorim’s side look to rebuild after a torrid season on the pitch. At 33 years old, Eriksen is still a figure of interest for multiple clubs across Europe this summer, including in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the MLS.
Red Dragons Make Offer
According to the Daily Mail, Wrexham had lodged an offer to Eriksen’s representatives in an effort to convince him to join the Championship newcomers for this season. Whilst the player is believed to have been impressed by the proposal, it seems that it has been rejected in order to find opportunities elsewhere. One of his agents, Martin Schoots, said to the outlet:
“Wrexham are really upgrading everything both on and off the field, and it is a hugely impressive project, as you can see from the presence of people like Michael Williamson there.
“But Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe. There are some contacts going on but it has to suit both sides.”
Phil Parkinson’s side have already invested heavily as they gear up for the second-tier, confirming two signings in just the past 24 hours with Sheffield Wednesday‘s Josh Windass and Nottingham Forest’s Lewis O’Brien arriving in North Wales, after the club submitted a new bid for the 26-year-old.
The Hollywood-backed club have been linked with ambitious moves across the summer, with Jamie Vardy emerging as a potential option early into the window before recruiting both Windass and Ryan Hardie from Plymouth Argyle, who was their first incoming of the summer.

Writers’ View
This is a very surprising move to make for Wrexham, but ultimately they were unsuccessful in a move for Christain Eriksen of all players. With Lewis O’Brien and George Thomason both arriving for substantial fees this summer, it is not a big blow for the club to face but nevertheless, the prospect of a player of Eriksen’s calibre to play in the Championship would have been stunning. The Dane clearly sees himself as someone who can still play in the top level of football, which Wrexham are not apart of, so there was no chance for them to convince the 33-year-old to move to the Racecourse Ground.
