Our Three Predictions Swindon Town vs Cheltenham Town

        • Prediction 1 – Both Sides To Score – 3/4
        • Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 87/100
        • Prediction 3 – Match To End In A Draw – 12/5

First Prediction For Swindon Town vs Cheltenham Town – Both Sides To Score – 3/4

Cheltenham Town have been buoyed in recent weeks with strong results against Walsall and especially AFC Wimbledon in their last game. The Gloucestershire side have been a very strong side in terms of goals scored, ranking ninth in League Two. However, Swindon have done even better and are fifth in that table, ahead of four current top-seven sides. They have scored six times in their last four matches. With these two sides in fine goalscoring form, both should have plenty of opportunities to add to their tallies on the day. Cheltenham winger Ashley Hay and Ethon Archer, who both contributed against Wimbledon will be the dangermen for Michael Flynn’s side, whilst the ever dangerous Harry Smith will be the focal point for Swindon.

Second Prediction For Swindon Town vs Cheltenham Town – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 87/100

Both teams have the attacking firepower but as recent games have seen, there are some defensive issues for both sides. Cheltenham Town have conceded eight times in five matches, with five of those coming against the top two in Walsall and Bradford City. Both sides in this match rank in the top third when it comes to goals conceded across the season. Whilst under Ian Holloway, Swindon have managed to cut back on these poor results with clean sheets against Walsall and Chesterfield. Their two most recent games saw those wounds reopen against Salford City and Doncaster Rovers.

Third Prediction For Swindon Town vs Cheltenham Town – Match To End In A Draw – 12/5

It feels like there is very little separating these two sides as they enter the next match in this local rivalry. No side are in especially good form right now and whilst Swindon are on a four-game unbeaten run, they may feel they could have got more in their games against Salford and Doncaster. Cheltenham will feel buoyed by their away win against Wimbledon in midweek but their shorter turnaround compared to their opponents may hinder them. Like the reverse fixture, this should be a close game.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Swindon Town enter the game on a strong four-game unbeaten run, but may feel they could have got more from it, especially against Salford when they relinquished their hard-fought lead within a minute. They did very well in their most recent game to fight back against the promotion-chasing Doncaster Rovers on the road. In their other games across the last five matches, they beat Walsall and Chesterfield but lost to Harrogate Town. They sit very much on the peripheries on the edge of the playoff conversation and are in 15th ahead of the weekend, 10 points behind Crewe Alexandra in seventh place.

Cheltenham Town will feel confident after a midweek win against AFC Wimbledon, very much against the run of play. However, their recent results had them on a five-game winless run. They lost to the resurgent Colchester United and suffered a difficult loss away to Bradford City, and also claimed draws against Grimsby Town and Walsall. Since the turn of the year though, Michael Flynn’s side have been very strong, picking up 19 points and have firmly put any relegation worries behind them to put them in with an outside chance of a top seven finish. They enter the weekend in 13th place and seven points behind Crewe.

The reverse fixture this season could be arguably the game of the League Two season so far, with Swindon surviving a second-half scare to claim all three points at Whaddon Road under Mark Kennedy. That was just Swindon’s second win over Cheltenham since 2011, with the other victory being at home in 2012. Cheltenham have won six times, with three draws being played out.
