“As Far As I’m Concerned” – Swindon Town Boss Discusses Contract Situation

Swindon Town boss Ian Holloway spoke candidly on whether he will sign a new contract at the club.

The former Bristol Rovers and Plymouth Argyle boss came into the club earlier this season and has defied expectations to take the Wiltshire side 12 points clear of the League Two relegation battle.

Holloway’s contract expires at the end of the season but his performances has led to discussions as to whether the 61-year-old will continue at the County Ground. In recent games, he has claimed impressive wins against Carlisle United, Newport County and former club Grimsby Town.

Ahead of their clash against Chesterfield this weekend, he discussed potential contract negotiations with the Swindon Advertiser.

“Yes. We have talked about it. As far as I am concerned that is almost done. That will be down to the people to disclose that. For me that has been done for at least a month. They know how I feel and I hope they feel the same.

“When the chairman was over, we went out for a meal and had a chat and I made it clear where I was and he did the same and that was probably the same place. It is about crossing the Is and the Ts. I will leave it for them.”

Ian Holloway’s return to club management has been a pleasant surprise and he has turned around Swindon’s fortunes amid turbulence off the pitch. Based on his comments ahead of their game against Chesterfield, his contract is nearly confirmed and he will continue to lead the club beyond this season. How he handles a full campaign in Wiltshire will be interesting but based on how he has coached The Robins so far, he will be able to maintain the club’s league status and perhaps reach further.
