West Bromwich Albion play host to Welsh outfit Swansea City at the Hawthorns in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Our Three Predictions for West Bromwich Albion vs Swansea City
- First Prediction: West Bromwich Albion to win – 5/6
- Second Prediction: Under 1.5 goals to be scored – 3/10
- Third Prediction: Both teams to score – no – 3/4
First Prediction for West Bromwich Albion vs Swansea City – West Bromwich Albion to win – 5/6
Although neither side have experienced great form in recent weeks, this is an opportunity for the Baggies to pick up points against a side with a new manager. With the midweek game, Vitor Matos won’t have had much time with his players, and this is something West Brom needs to exploit.
After their disappointing loss to Derby County, the Swans are now in the midst of four back-to-back Championship defeats and have not won a game since the end of October, almost a month ago.
Whilst the hosts don’t have a great record at the Hawthorns this season, they have only lost once on home soil, winning three and drawing four. This does not bode well for Swansea, who have one of the worst away records in the second tier this season. Out of eight games on the road, Swansea have lost half of them, winning two and drawing a further two.
Although this is going to be a game between two sides relatively low on confidence, it is a huge opportunity for West Brom to get back to winning ways against a side that are struggling for form, have just appointed a new manager, and are winless in over a month.

Second Prediction for West Bromwich Albion vs Swansea City – Under 1.5 goals to be scored – 3/10
Neither side have got midblowing records when it comes to both scoring goals and keeping them out at the other end.
Ryan Mason’s side have scored 17 goals in 17 games, whilst their opponents have scored just one less, 16 goals in 17 games. The hosts have also got the better record when it comes to defending goals, conceding 20, whilst the Swans have conceded 24 goals in 17 games.
In their last five alone, Vitor Matos’ side have conceded 12 goals, whilst West Brom have managed to score three in their last three, including two against league-leaders Coventry City. On home soil, however, the Baggies have conceded just six this season, whilst the away side have scored six goals on their travels, meaning this could be a very tight, low-scoring game between two sides desperately in need of points if they want to kick on this season.
Third Prediction for West Bromwich Albion vs Swansea City – Both teams to score – no – 3/4
To back up the previous point, it looks unlikely that we will see both sides manage to score in this encounter. On average, the Swans score less than one goal per game, their record standing at 0.94 goals. Whilst West Brom’s record is slightly better, sitting at one goal on average per game, it is still far from the most impressive record in the league.

Full Preview of the Game – Last Results and Head-To-Head
As mentioned above, neither side come into this clash on good form, the host winning just one of their previous five games, whilst the Swans haven’t won in the Championship for just over a month. The away side have suffered four back-to-back defeats on the trot in their last five.
With the Championship table so tight, even with both sides sat towards the lower half of the table, three points would do either side the world of good. Despite sitting 17th, West Brom are just three points off ninth-placed Birmingham City, who they played midweek, whilst Swansea need to make up ground if they want to stay clear of this relegation scrap, the side just a mere two points away from Oxford United, who sit 22nd.
Since 2011, these sides have faced each other a whopping 26 times, in both the Championship and the Premier League. The Welsh outfit have won half of these ties, with 13, with their opponents winning nine. The other four games have ended level at full time. Last time these sides met last season in Wales, the game did end level, Tom Fellows’ opening goal ruled out by a last-minute Joe Allen equaliser.
