“We’re Going To Make It Difficult” – Northampton Town Boss Previews Bristol Rovers Clash

Northampton Town head coach Kevin Nolan wants to make life difficult for Bristol Rovers when they travel to Sixfields this weekend.

The Cobblers currently rank 18th for home form across the League One season, but the former West Ham United midfielder believes recent results can boost their chances of delivering more consistently there.

“This Is Our Home”

Speaking to the Northampton Chronicle and Echo, Nolan spoke of his desire to pick up more results at Sixfields.

“I want to start building momentum at home and I’m keen to make it a fortress. I want to make it a tough place for teams to come. We made it tough for Huddersfield and I thought we made it tough for Wrexham and I want every team who comes to Sixfields to feel like they’ve been in a game and they’ve had to earn it.

“I’m hoping there won’t be too many teams who are walking away with smiles on their faces but it’s up to us to build that momentum and have belief that this is our home and we’re going to make it difficult for any team.”

They face a Bristol Rovers side just one place below them in the third tier, who have lost their last four away games in a row.

Writer’s View

Home form is imperative for any side in their league aspirations and it is very understandable as to why Kevin Nolan wants to change Northampton Town’s fortunes at Sixfields. They can look to the Huddersfield Town win for some positives but largely they need to continue getting results to extend their four-point gap from the relegation zone. This match will be a key six-pointer for both sides and with Bristol Rovers beating fellow sides around them like Burton Albion and Peterborough United, both sides need to be up for this clash.
