Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver has warned his players against complacency despite taking a significant step towards League Two safety with a vital 1-0 victory over Carlisle United.
The Sulphurites’ win at Wetherby Road, coupled with Morecambe’s defeat at MK Dons, has put them 11 points clear of the relegation zone with ten matches remaining.
Their recent resurgence, particularly at home, has been timely, with Weaver’s men now unbeaten in six at home, including three consecutive wins.
However, the Town boss insists his side still has work to do before securing their Football League status for another season.
“With 10 games to go, we wanted to be at least 10 points clear of the bottom two, and we have reached that milestone, but we are still not mathematically safe and still have to seal the deal,” Weaver said.
“Nobody would have thought that Carlisle would be bottom of the league at this stage and, with the quality they have, they could still go on a run.
“Morecambe always dig in, and everyone is fighting for their lives.
“Now is a good moment for us, but we have to go to Newport this weekend and be professional. There can be no cutting corners.”
Home Form Sparks Hope
Harrogate’s recent run at Wetherby Road has provided a much-needed boost in their fight for survival. Weaver praised his squad for delivering when it mattered most, knowing that maintaining their form will be key in the final stretch of the season.
“Three consecutive home wins feels really good. We are unbeaten in six as well, but it was needed.
“It had to be done, and the lads have delivered.”
With ten crucial games left, including tough away trips and key battles against fellow strugglers, Weaver is determined to keep his side focused.

Writer’s View
Harrogate have put themselves in a strong position to secure their League Two status, but Weaver is right to preach caution. The battle to avoid relegation is never over until the points are secured, and Town must remain disciplined in the coming weeks.
Their recent home form has been impressive, but with tough away fixtures looming, continued resilience will be essential to ensure they stay clear of trouble.
