Swansea City are set to have defender Kristian Pedersen back from injury in the coming days as they face Millwall.
Luke Williams’ side return to South Wales after back-to-back matches on the road where they lost to Blackburn Rovers before a goalless draw to Sheffield Wednesday. The Swans are unbeaten at home this season, winning two and drawing three.
Pedersen Returns
The big takeaway for Swansea as Luke Williams previewed the visit of The Lions was they were unscathed from that game against the South Yorkshire side. Whilst the Danish international is unlikely to feature this weekend, Pedersen is back on the training pitch and is close to a full return.
Speaking to the club ahead of Saturday’s clash, The Swans boss said:
“We do not have any fresh injury concerns. We have got a few aches and pains in the group, but nothing serious.
“We are as we were, although Kristian Pedersen is back out on the grass and he is very close to being back in full training with the rest of the squad.
“We have a chance to keep our unbeaten home record going, and that is definitely something we want to extend for as long as possible.”
Pedersen has not featured in a City squad since they lost away to West Bromwich Albion at the end of August. He has only featured twice so far this campaign, playing full ninety-minute games against Gillingham and Wycombe Wanderers, both in the EFL Cup.
The former Birmingham City man joined the club on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 but rarely featured for the club, playing just five times. He was loaned out to Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the winter transfer window, however, played a further four times at Hillsborough.
Writer’s View
Kristian Pedersen may not be a regular for Swansea City but having the squad as strong as it can be is important. Josh Tymon has looked a highly consistent performer at left-back in recent weeks and was one of the standouts from a Swans perspective against Sheffield Wednesday. Pedersen’s versatility to also play centre-back is a big asset to have should extra cover be needed.
