It has emerged that Adam Reach has left Swansea City following a month-long trial at the Championship club.
The former Sheffield Wednesday man was brought in by Luke Williams’ side recently to examine if he could fit into the Welsh club. The midfielder has been out of contract since this summer after leaving West Bromwich Albion.
Reach Out But Former Swan Remains
Speaking to the BBC following the club’s draw with Sheffield Wednesday, the former Notts County boss revealed that the 31-year-old had left but Cyrus Christie is still with the club.
“Adam Reach is not training with us anymore.
“It was great to have him with us, but we have moved on from there.
“Cyrus Christie is still training with us so as soon as I can give you a further update, I will do.”
The Irish midfielder left Hull City this summer and previously played for Swansea on a half-season loan from Fulham in 2022. He played 23 times for the club, scoring three times.
He struggled to get consistent minutes under Liam Rosenior at the back end of last season and only featured four times for The Tigers in 2024. Liverpool loanee Tyler Morton and Jean-Michel Seri emerged as the now-Strasbourg boss’ first-choice options in the centre of the park.
First-Team Place Up For Grabs
Williams has consistently played around with his midfield selection for games this season. Matt Grimes has been a shoo-in across the season, but he has experimented with other choices and last night’s game against The Owls saw Jay Fulton get the nod beside him.
Former Stoke City stalwart Joe Allen was brought on for the latter stages at Hillsborough, whilst Goncalo Franco featured in the games against Blackburn Rovers and The Potters.
Writer’s View
Adam Reach’s search for a new club continues and it is a shame as he is certainly good enough to play in the Championship. Ultimately Luke Williams opted against bringing him into the club and he will now be going elsewhere in search of a contract. Myles Peart-Harris is a solid choice to deputise for the injured Eom Ji-Sung and with the Korean expected back in December a move for the 31-year-old would only have been short-term.
