Blackburn Rovers forward Tyrhys Dolan has backed his team to give West Bromwich Albion a tough test at Ewood Park on Wednesday evening.
Both sides occupy the Championship play-off spots with Rovers in sixth and West Brom in fifth. The teams also have identical records this season, with five wins, three draws and just two defeats each.
Dolan: Blackburn Rovers’ Feeling Confident
Despite Blackburn and West Brom’s similar starts to the season, recent results have differed for the two outfits. Rovers come into Wednesday’s clash following a 1-0 home win over Swansea – a result which helped the Lancashire side to maintain their 100% winning start at Ewood Park this season. However, West Brom are winless in four and were held to a 1-1 draw at Oxford on Saturday.
Dolan, who netted the match-winner against Swansea last time out, believes Blackburn can utilise their home record to take on West Brom this week. While the 22-year-old believes Rovers must respect the Baggies, he also told the official Blackburn website that his side can give Wednesday’s visitors a tough game.
They’re a quality team, there’s no hiding that. We’re not fearing anyone and they have to come to Ewood and know it’s a tough place to come. They know they’ll be in for a game and we’ll have to bring our A game because teams can punish you. Off the back of Saturday’s game, the boys will be confident and just excited for the game.
Dolan has been a key player under John Eustace at Blackburn this season. He has started all 10 Championship games and made four goal contributions, with two goals and assists.
Writer’s View
Blackburn are clearly riding high following their strong start to the Championship season. They are currently the only side in the second tier to win every home match of the campaign. It is no surprise then to see players like Dolan looking forward to every home match. In addition, considering West Brom have failed to win in their previous two on the road, Rovers will be relishing the chance to notch a sixth successive victory at Ewood Park on Wednesday.
