Nigel Adkins has discussed the potential takeover of Tranmere Rovers by a consortium led by rapper A$AP Rocky.
The Birkenhead club has been subject to much discussion over the past week, with rumours circulating that Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, wants to take control and create a documentary following the club in the style of the hit show ‘Welcome To Wrexham‘.
“I’m Looking Forward”
Despite all the off-field speculation, Adkins is focused on what is happening on the pitch as they prepare to face Crewe Alexandra. Addressing the potential takeover to the Wirral Globe, the former Southampton boss said:
“Obviously I’ve been speaking to Mark (Palios, Tranmere chairman) and things have been going on for a vey long time so I am aware of what is going on but I can’t control that,” he said.
“What I can control is how we train every day, the culture we have and the environment we have got and that everyone is pulling in the same direction and not getting clouded with what might be going on in the future.
Mark and Nicola (Palios) have talked publicly about how they have been looking for investment for several years now – I’m a Tranmere Rovers supporter and I’m from Birkenhead and I just want the best for our football club and if that is further investment to help the football club kick on than I’m really pleased about the potential the club has.
“It’s our football club and it’s a community club and I’m really looking forward to the potential that might bring to our club.”

Tranmere could become the next success story and fans will love the ambition their potential new owners will bring. Hopefully, should they take custody of the club they will follow in the steps of Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenny and put the community and the club first before their own desires. It will also undoubtedly boost the profile of the club through these famous faces, with A$AP Rocky being the partner of international superstar Rihanna.
