3 – Derek Dooley
63 appearances, 63 goals

It seems strange that a Sheffield Wednesday hero has a statue outside Bramall Lane of all places, but such was Dooley’s impact that he’s equally as revered on both sides of the city. After two outings for Lincoln City, Dooley signed for Wednesday and played a few seasons in the reserves before exploding onto the scene. He netted 47 times in just 31 games in the Second Division, helping the Owls to the title. Back in the top flight, he hit 16 goals in 24 games before tragedy struck – he suffered a broken leg away at Preston North End. Sadly, a scratch under his cast became gangrenous, and doctors were forced to amputate it. He later rose to prominence with the other half of the city, but today his impact is felt with the road name Derek Dooley Way.
