Sheffield Wednesday are perhaps the biggest club currently plying their trade outside of the top two divisions.
Whilst a generation of supporters might not recall their glory years; they were once a top-flight staple. Hillsborough was the go-to ground for FA Cup semi-finals, and the Owls were no strangers to the latter stages of cup competitions. They were in the final four of the League Cup three times in four years at the start of the nineties, winning it in 1991 by beating Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United.
With such a rich history and huge fanbase, there’s no denying The Owls are a big player at this level – but who are their big players? Do any of the current crop rank in their best of all time? Or do they miss out to some of the legends that plied their trade in the nineties, before many of their current fans were born?
