Lincoln City, Doncaster and Swindon striker hunt – eight free agents they could still sign

Brett Pitman

He will now train with us' - Brett Pitman returns to Portsmouth ...

Pitman is a striker of some experience, a natural goalscorer who aggravates and annoys opposition defenders. He spent nine years with Bournemouth across two spells, bagging 102 goals and appearing in three different divisions with them. Recently, he’s been with Portsmouth where he won the EFL Trophy and scored 42 times in 99 matches. To the surprise of many neutrals, he struggled for matches at Fratton Park last season and was released by manager Kenny Jackett.

Pitman has also appeared for Ipswich and Bristol City and at 32-years-old he still has plenty to offer the right club at League One level. Pompey could regret letting the bustling forward go if he does appear in the third tier next season.
