Four free agents Swindon Town boss could be looking at to solve his defensive crisis

Antony Kay

Kay is vastly experienced having made nearly six hundred Football League appearances for the likes of Huddersfield Town, Tranmere Rovers and Bury.

He’s spent the majority of his career in League One but he enjoyed Championship football with MK Dons and his hometown club Barnsley.

The thirty-six-year-old spent the last two season at Port Vale, making seventy appearances across all competitions for the Valiants but was released by boss John Askey in the summer.

Kay reads the game well and is useful in the air and would help younger players in the Robins squad like the inexperienced Taylor Curran as well as providing a threat from set-pieces.

Having spent most of his career in the north, geography together with fitness might be an issue.
