Millwall Enter Louie Barry Transfer Battle

Millwall are one of the teams interested in securing a loan for Aston Villa prospect Louie Barry in this window.

The Champions League contenders recalled the former Barcelona and Salford City player from his loan at Stockport County as the winter transfer window opened as they look to secure him a Championship loan for the remainder of the season.

Lions Enter The Fray

According to the South London Press, Millwall are one of the sides that are keen on bringing in Barry in January as they look to reclaim lost ground in the play-off battle. The Lions are the joint-lowest scorers in the Championship this season, scoring 24 times in 25 matches.

The interest in Barry, who scored 15 times for The Hatters in League One, comes as Premier League side and South London rivals Crystal Palace monitor Romain Esse, with French Ligue 1 side Monaco also interested in the 19-year-old.

Championship promotion hopefuls Leeds United, Sheffield United and Sunderland have both been linked to the Villa forward. However, it is Derby County that are believed to be the leaders in the race to secure the 21-year-old.

Barry is not the only winger that Millwall are pursuing though, with Middlesbrough‘s Isaiah Jones also mooted for a move, however face heavy competition from Luton Town and West Bromwich Albion, who have had bids accepted according to Sky Sports.

Louie Barry is hot property right now and with Romain Esse linked to more prominent leagues, Millwall will need to find a replacement soon. They are a side struggling to find goals and who better to get than someone who was a leading contender in the League One Golden Boot race prior to his recall from Stockport County. Unai Emery hinted he will be out on loan for the rest of the season and Millwall would be a good prospect for Villa to send Barry to with the way they have developed their young attacking talent such as Esse and Zian Flemming.
