Watford Set To Terminate Forward’s Loan

Watford look set to curtail Daniel Jebbison’s season-long loan at the club after just three starts in the Championship.

The striker was brought into Vicarage Road at the end of the summer window from Premier League side Bournemouth after becoming the third-choice striker for Andoni Iraola’s side following the signings of Evanilson and Enes Unal.

Jebbison Set For Cherries Return

According to the Watford Observer, the former Sheffield United man is set to have his loan terminated by The Hornets after six months and just three starts for the club. He only played a total of 380 minutes for the club, failing to contribute to a goal in his 13 total appearances.

The decision comes at an ideal time for Jebbison’s parent club, with the aforementioned strikers in Evanilson and Enes Unal both set for long stints on the sideline, leaving just Antoine Semenyo as the only senior player capable of playing striker in their game against West Bromwich Albion this weekend for the FA Cup third round.

Speaking to the Observer, Watford boss Tom Cleverley said of the decision:

“The two clubs are in communication about it. I’ll probably have more information in a couple of days’ time, but the injury to Evanilson has made it more attractive to Bournemouth.

“It is a loan that hasn’t worked and we have to accept that. I spoke to Daniel this week and what has happened here shouldn’t define who he is as a player, and he shouldn’t be judged on the last six months.

“He hasn’t become a worse player overnight because this move hasn’t worked.”

Daniel Jebbison’s return to the Championship after two seasons was a very difficult period. He failed to get any sort of form or chances to contribute to Watford’s team and as a result they have opted to move on and will likely look to bring in another player for their attack this window. For Jebbison, it is likely that he will remain in Bournemouth for the remainder of this season with two key players now injured for the long term.
