Our Three Predictions For Preston North End vs Derby County

  • Prediction 1 – Both Sides To Score – 33/50
  • Prediction 2 – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 16/25
  • Prediction 3 – Derby County To Win – 3/1

First Prediction For Preston North End vs Derby County – Jerry Yates To Score – 19/5

Yates was the standout player for Derby across their recent matches, scoring in three and assisting once in their last six games. The Swansea City loanee looked to finally have found his goalscoring knack and arguably the international break came at a bad time for him as he looks to add to his total since arriving at Pride Park. A number of key players are out for Preston North End so there is a good chance for the 28-year-old to get more contributions on the board.

Second Prediction For Preston North End vs Derby County – Under 2.5 Goals Scored – 14/25

It looks like it will be a close game but neither side are in a properly strong spell of form. Preston are winless in their last six games across all competitions, scoring seven across that period, including three against Plymouth Argyle and two against Norwich City. County have scored six in their last five, scoring at least once in every one of those matches. These two sides should be very close and the goals may come few and far between.

Third Prediction For Preston North End vs Derby County – Derby County To Win – 9/4

It should be a very close game but Derby County mat get the edge here. Injuries and suspensions for Preston will be costly, especially up front. They will be missing Will Keane, Ched Evans and Milutin Osmajic, who has been suspended for biting Owen Beck during the match against Blackburn Rovers. If Derby manage to find that first goal it feels that it might be able to seal the victory for Paul Warne’s side.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Neither side are in a particularly good spell of form. Preston North End are winless in their last five Championship matches and also were dumped out of the EFL Cup by Arsenal. Matches at Deepdale have been very low scoring, with eight goals for and seven conceded, with their three wins, three draws and two losses record putting them 14th in the table for home results. Ultimately they have been struggling all season despite a short uptick under Paul Heckingbottom and are only out of the relegation zone on goal difference. They lost 3-1 in their last game to Portsmouth, helping take John Mousinho’s team off the bottom of the league.

Derby County are also somewhat struggling for points but are the form side coming into this thanks to their win over managerless Coventry City. They have only lost once in their last five against Stoke City, but have made themselves hard to beat with three draws. The results against Oxford United and Hull City were from behind whilst their most recent match, a 1-1 draw against Plymouth Argyle, saw them cede the lead to Wayne Rooney’s squad.

With Derby’s relegation to League One and subsequent promotion back into the second tier, this will be the first time these sides have faced off since 2022. Preston have been the stronger of the two in the recent contests, with three wins in the last five, but it has been Derby that has dominated the fixture historically, recording 10 wins to the Lancashire club’s three.
