Liam Manning says he is “delighted” for Nakhi Wells after he delivered yet another goal for Bristol City.
The Bermuda international has struck a fine vein of form for The Robins across recent weeks, scoring four goals in his last five matches. He has firmly solidified himself as the first-choice man at Ashton Gate, ahead of summer signings Sinclair Armstrong and Fally Mayulu.
“An Outstanding Professional”
Wells doubled City’s advantage over Norwich City, sealing a second win in three matches and brought his side up to 10th place in the Championship.
Manning discussed the performance of the former Bradford City and Huddersfield Town forward, telling BristolLive:
“Phenomenal, I’m delighted for Nahki. I love working with him. He’s an outstanding professional.
“What impresses me more than Nahki is the standards he sets on himself. I think he gets more frustrated and annoyed than anybody when he misses opportunities in training. His quality I get to see regularly in training as well and you it come out in games.
“It was a fantastic finish and he’s in a really good spot and long may it continue.”
City now have to wait until the end of November for their next game as they face Burnley in one of the early Saturday kick-offs. With his strike, he now becomes the club’s leading scorer this season with five goals.
Writer’s View
Nakhi Wells has found a resurgence as he reaches his 500th game in professional football. The Bermudan has always been a dangerous prospect but failed to reach the heights of his time at Huddersfield and Bradford whilst at Ashton Gate. He has now found himself delivering goals semi-regularly and is only three goals away from matching his total from last season in 38 fewer appearances. Sinclair Armstrong and Fally Mayulu were both brought in to be challengers for the first spot but it is currently the man who has been at the club for six seasons that is their star forward.
