“Sacked In The Morning” Are These The Next League One/Two Managers To Get The Boot?

Mark Bonner (Cambridge United)

Cambridge United currently occupy second bottom in the third tier but sits two points away from safety. The club have managed a win in their last five, unlike the previous two teams, however, and it came against one of those two sides as they beat Oxford United 1-0.

Wins and goals have been difficult to come by for the side, only one side has scored fewer goals than them, and that is the side below them Forest Green Rovers who have scored just one goal less than them. The 26 goals they have scored and their eight wins leaves them in this position at this point of the season with many fans struggling to see a way out for the club.

Prior to their victory over Oxford this past weekend, they had been on a run of eight games without a win, their last victory coming on Boxing Day over Shrewsbury Town. They are also one of the five games Forest Green have won, a team which many fans feel are the worst in the division this season.

For Bonner’s side, the victory party was short-lived as they went on to lose midweek at Fleetwood Town, at a time when many felt a victory could kickstart a fresh run of results that may help guide them out of the relegation places. However, they appear to have been dragged right back into it and look set to continue to struggle.
