Cardiff City vs Huddersfield Town: Prediction, Lineups & Odds (06/12/25)

League One leaders Cardiff City welcome promotion chasing Huddersfield Town to the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

Our Three Predictions For Cardiff City vs Huddersfield Town

  • First Prediction: Cardiff City To Win – 21/20
  • Second Prediction: Both Teams To Score – 4/7
  • Third Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals – 7/10

First Prediction For Cardiff City vs Huddersfield Town – Cardiff City To Win – 21/20

In what has been an exceptionally unpredictable League One season, it is Cardiff that currently top the pile. With the entire top half still in with a genuine shout for promotion, we’re reaching a point where a little bit of consistency may prove to be the difference come May.

The Bluebirds haven’t quite hit those levels yet, but back-to-back wins have given them the advantage heading into the festive period. Although they suffered successive defeats on the road starting at the end of October, the Welsh-based outfit have won their last 3 games in front of their own supporters.

Huddersfield were one of the early contenders for a top 2 finish due to their expenditure over the past 12 months. However, they remain outside the play-off places after failing to hit a decent run of form at any point during this season.

The Terriers lost their last league away game to Luton Town and followed that with a 3-3 draw with AFC Wimbledon last weekend. It’s worth noting that they did pick up a win on the road earlier this week when they beat Lincoln City 2-0 in the EFL Trophy.

Second Prediction For Cardiff City vs Huddersfield Town – Both Teams To Score – 4/7

Cardiff do rank low in this market, with just 44% of their fixtures seeing both teams score. However, this rises to 50% at the Cardiff City Stadium.

Despite that, 3 of their last 5 have hit this marker whilst their 3-0 victory over Mansfield Town last weekend was their first home clean sheet since August.

Huddersfield fair better here, having scored and conceded in 59% of their league outings. Again, this rises to 63% on the road.

The Terriers head into this having achieved this feat in their last 4 games. The last time they fell short here was a 3-0 loss to Wycombe Wanderers at the end of October.

Third Prediction For Cardiff City vs Huddersfield Town – Over 2.5 Goals – 7/10

Both teams have been entertaining to watch from a neutral perspective this season. Cardiff have been involved in games that have featured 3 or more goals on 9 occasions this season, which equates to 56% of their outings thus far. However, this rises to a staggering 88% when playing in front of their own supporters.

As for Huddersfield, no other team has been involved in more high scoring games in League One. They have hit this marker in 71% of their fixtures to date, a figure which rises to 75% away from home.

All of the Terriers last 5 league games have gone over 2.5 goals, with 20 goals scored across those fixtures in total.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Cardiff suffered relegation from the Championship in May and are hoping to emulate Birmingham City by bouncing back at the first opportunity. They’ve given themselves an excellent chance and currently sit top of the table by 1 point.

The Bluebirds started the season well, going unbeaten in their first 7. It’s fair to say they’ve been a bit hit and miss since, and they have won 2 and lost 2 of their last 4.

Those 2 defeats both came on the road, first losing 1-0 at Bolton Wanderers before a poor 3-1 reverse at struggling Blackpool. However, they’ve bounced back and head into this game on the back of successes over Northampton Town (3-1) and Mansfield Town (3-0).

Huddersfield haven’t really got going yet, despite the campaign being a third of the way through. They’ve won just 3 of their last 10 league games, although recent victories over Plymouth Argyle (3-1) and Mansfield (3-1) in November did ease the pressure on Lee Grant somewhat.

The manager looks to be running out of time though after losing to Luton Town (2-1) before last weekend’s 3-3 draw with AFC Wimbledon at the Accu Stadium.

There isn’t much to separate the pair over the years, although Cardiff did win both games during the 2023/24 season when Huddersfield were relegated from the Championship. The Terriers emerged victorious in the 3 games prior to that though.

Overall, the Terriers edge the head-to-head record, with 32 wins in 85 prior meetings. The Bluebirds have 30 wins whilst they have played out 23 draws, the last of which came in 2021.
