Bristol City hit eight, Brighton and Norwich hammered – The Biggest League One victories examined

Oxford United 0-7 Wigan

It’s that man Grigg again, this time bagging a hat trick as Oxford were humbled at home. The U’s recently beat Lincoln City at Sincil Bank by a big margin, but know exactly how it feels to be hurt on their own turf.

The win was a Latics record, their biggest-ever league victory even surpassing the 7-1 win at Scarborough in March 1997, over 20 years prior.

Wigan won the title with 98 points, securing Championship football which they still enjoy. As for Oxford, this is the first season where they’ve managed to lift themselves above the humdrum in a while, with this result coming as they finished 16th, six points clear of the drop
