Huddersfield 7-1 Brighton
Brighton were perhaps the victim of a sending off here as much as anything; keeper Michael Kuipers was sent off with the score poised at 2-1. Lee Novak banged home the penalty to make it 3-1 before halftime and the visitors crumbled in the second period. Danny Drinkwater bagged one of his two league goals whilst on loan from Manchester United and Theo Robinson hit a late brace.
“It was a horrendous night for me as a manager, for the team and for the club,” said manager Russell Slade. “I didn’t see that coming and can only apologise. By far the worst night I’ve had in football. I was disappointed with most of the goals we conceded.
Huddersfield finished seventh in the table but were beaten by Millwall in the play-off semi-finals.
