Reading defender Gabriel Osho has been given a trial by League One outfit Ipswich Town as reported by TWTD.
The League One leaders are thought to be eyeing a loan move for the youngster in January as they look to bolster their ranks for a crucial run-in that could secure them an immediate return to the Championship.
Osho has been with the Royals since he was a child and made his Championship debut for the first-team aged twenty against Middlesbrough at the Madejski Stadium in December 2018.
The twenty-one-year-old has made one more sub appearance in the Championship, as well as a Carabao Cup outing. He’s also enjoyed loan spells with Maidenhead, Aldershot and, for the second half of last season, Bristol Rovers, although he failed to make an appearance for the Gas.
The Centre-back is out-of-contract at the Madejski Stadium next summer, and he’s thought to be weighing up his options having not featured in the league for the Royals this season. He has been allowed to join Ipswich temporarily as new Reading manager Mark Bowen continues to assess the Royals squad.
The youngster turned out for the Ipswich Under-23 side last night at Portman Road in their match against Coventry City and played the full ninety minutes in a 2-1 victory for the Tractor Boys.
Our View
Osho is well down the pecking order at Reading so a loan to the League One leaders would be a good move for the youngster.
After a man of the match performance on his debut, he’s failed to kick on for the Royals but an impressive loan spell could either convince Bowen to offer him another deal or secure him a decent move away from Reading when his contract expires in the summer.
Many Reading fans rate Osho highly, and this could be a more than decent signing for Ipswich Town and their boss Paul Lambert.
