Port Vale have confirmed the permanent signing of Birmingham City‘s George Hall.
The Valiants have been in the middle of a rebuild as they look to stay in League One this season, with 12 new faces through the door this window, including this latest move for Hall. Darren Moore’s side have had a rough start in the third tier, and sit second bottom after six matches and are yet to find a win in the league despite their joys in the EFL Cup.
Hall Makes Switch
With Birmingham ascending into the Championship under Chris Davies, the attacking midfielder was given permission to leave the club to further his career, and has found a destination in the Hanley side, with Vale confirming the switch on deadline day.
The 21-year-old had a promising spell at Walsall last season, scoring twice and recording as many assists in seven starts and 652 minutes for the Saddlers, and played the full 90 minutes of the EFL League Two playoff final against AFC Wimbledon.
Speaking to the Valiants’ media team upon his arrival at the club, manager Darren Moore said:
“We’d like to welcome George here to Port Vale and are really pleased to have him on board.
“He’s another player with bags of potential who has already played plenty of football at a high level, and we’re all looking forward to working with him.”
Hall did not feature in any of the Blues’ games this season and was an unused sub in their loss to Vale in the EFL Cup second round.

Writers’ View
George Hall showed his ability in a short loan for Walsall and now will be handed a chance to flourish away from St. Andrew’s with a move to Port Vale. In what was a dire end to last season for the Saddlers as they threw away a dominant position to achieve promotion, Hall was a good creative outlet. He heads to Hanley as a good alternative option that can support Mo Faal in attack and will certainly be a player for the future no matter what division they find themselves in.
