Luton Town Sign Excellent League Two Prospect

Luton Town have announced the delayed arrival of Ethon Archer, who will permanently join the Hatters in January following the culmination of 2025.

The Hatters have purchased the exciting winger, but has been loaned back out to Cheltenham Town for the first half of a crucial season for Michael Flynn’s relegation-battling side. Archer scored eight goals and provided six assists last season and has been a standout performer since his arrival from Torquay United last summer.

Archer spoke to Luton’s media team after a move to Luton has finally materialised:

“I’m delighted to be here and so happy this deal got over the line. As soon as I heard about it I thought it was a no-brainer, something I definitely had to go for.

“This is a very big club. It’s been in the Premier League not too long ago, in the Championship last season, and I know they have aspirations of getting back to that level, so this is something I definitely want to be a part of.

“The facilities are unreal. I can’t wait to get going here in January and I just know it’s going to aid my development, 100 per cent.”

Matt Bloomfield spoke on the attacking impact that Archer will be expected to add to his Hatters lineup. Luton currently sit in seventh place but have only conceded three times so far in the league:

“We are really excited to invest in Ethon and are looking forward to his future career with us. He’s had a rapid rise in the last couple of years after stepping up from Non-League football, and he’s hungry and determined to progress even further.

“Playing a key role in Cheltenham’s first half of the season will be valuable for his development, and we’ll be watching him closely over the next few months, then look forward to welcoming him fully in January.”

Archer was playing non-league football at 17 and is now signing for League One heavyweights. The left-winger joined Raynes Park Vale in 2022/23, which is the move that seriously began his impressive journey after Covid. Welling United and Three Bridges took on the 23-year-old before a trial basis turned into a permanent Torquay transfer. Working at Amazon during this time meant that Archer had to earn a living away from football, but can now further it as high sole career.

This is the perfect non-league rising story. Archer has earned this move through years of well-earned progress in the National League South and lower divisions.

Archer will be delighted to continue his growth at Cheltenham, knowing full well his performances are to impress the Hatters now. Flynn’s side however, look destined for the drop as soon as the winger leaves in January if reinforcements aren’t brought in as cover. For Town, Archer is irreplaceable at the moment.
