Blackpool look set to make a move for Dale Taylor as the striker looks for an exit from Nottingham Forest.
The 21-year-old had his best season yet on loan away from the City Ground, scoring 11 times in 47 appearances for Wigan Athletic on loan last season, being the bright spot in a difficult season for the 2013 FA Cup winners. However, a return to Ryan Lowe’s side has been stifled with moves for other forwards, such as Wrexham’s Paul Mullin and Dara Costelloe from Burnley.
Taylor Set To Replace Outgoing
With star youngster Rob Apter now leaving Blackpool to join the newly-promoted Charlton Athletic, Steve Bruce’s side are in need of a new talisman. And according to Football League World, they have identified Taylor as a potential successor in Taylor, who has two years remaining on his contract at Forest.
With successful loans at Burton Albion, Wycombe Wanderers and Wigan, the Northern Ireland international is an established name at the League One level. With reports from Football Insider stating that The Tangerines earned up to £2 million in the sale of Apter, Blackpool now have plenty of cash to throw around to improve their squad.
Other names have been touted, including former striker Jerry Yates as his time at Swansea City looks to be over, with Wales Online’s Tom Coleman naming the Bloomfield Road side as one of many interested in the former Derby County loanee. Whoever would come through the door would be the second incoming forward after signing Niall Ennis from Stoke City.

This would be a very good move for Blackpool to make. Of course, losing Rob Apter is a blow but ultimately an inevitable one with his potential. With a lot of funds now available to Steve Bruce and his side, moving for Dale Taylor with his chances of first-team football at Nottingham Forest would be an exciting signing alongside Niall Ennis. Taylor has proved his ability with Wigan and Wycombe, so a return to League One would see him as one of the better forwards within the division.
