Coventry City Sanction Midfielder Exit

Coventry City have allowed young midfielder Isaac Moore to head out on loan to Forest Green Rovers.

Moore has emerged as a new option to Frank Lampard’s squad in recent months, joining the senior side’s training schedule and has made unused substitute appearances in the Championship. The 19-year-old was rewarded with a new contract last month, keeping him at the Sky Blues for the next three years.

Savage Recruitment Begins

According to Coventry Live, Moore has been scooped up by Forest Green Rovers on a season-long loan, sending him to another former Premier League midfielder in Robbie Savage, who was appointed by the Nailsworth side to replace Steve Cotterill. The former Leicester City maestro had previously been at the helm of Macclesfield FC, helping the phoenix club to reach the National League North.

Savage has already recruited three new players from The Silkmen, and is now set to make his first dive into the EFL market with Moore. FGR fell short of promotion back to the EFL by losing in the playoffs to Southend United on penalties in the semi-final.

It may free up space within the Coventry squad to sign rumoured target Tom Lawrence from Rangers, with the Daily Mail reporting back in April that City were in a battle with multiple Championship sides. The midfielder has since been released by the Ibrox club, meaning the former Derby County man could be recruited on a free transfer.

Writers’ View

Isaac Moore’s development in senior football seems to now be kicked into gear with a loan move to Forest Green Rovers. The top of the National League has long been regarded on par with many of the sides in League Two, and will be in a very competitive environment from the get-go. He will be managed by someone who understands his position well in Robbie Savage and this will likely see him progress nicely in the future.
