Fleetwood Town Secure Championship Striker Loan

Fleetwood Town have sealed a move for Sheffield United‘s promising striker Louie Marsh on loan for the rest of the season.

It marks a return for the 20-year-old to League Two after heading on loan to Doncaster Rovers last season, where he played eight times and scored once before injury cut the spell short.

Cod Army Make Move

Marsh has been in and around the first team this season and has occasionally made appearances for Chris Wilder’s side, including in the FA Cup third round against Cardiff City. However, with the signings of both Ben Brereton Diaz and Tom Cannon, it has pushed Marsh out of the matchday squads.

His future was up in the air with 18 months left on his contract but it has been resolved with a new deal which will keep him at Bramall Lane for a further three-and-a-half years. He is in line to make his Cod Army debut against Cheltenham Town.

Marsh has been the subject of a lot of speculation in the past week or so, with links to both Stockport County and Huddersfield Town in League One. It had also been reported that four Premier League sides were also interested in a permanent deal, including Southampton and Brentford.

Louie Marsh was touted to go to clubs in League One but it seems that they had no takers so a move to League Two has come to fruition. Fleetwood Town are a solid side and should be a good selection choice for Pete Wild to use in attack. The Cod Army needed new recruits after the devastating news that Ronan Coughlan would be out for the remainder of this season. For Marsh, it is a second chance to prove his ability in the fourth tier after that stint hampered by injury at Doncaster Rovers last season.
