Stockport County look set to sign Norwich City defender Brad Hills on loan for the remainder of the season.
That’s according to The Pink’un, who believe that the move is ‘progressing smoothly’.
Hills Makes Step Up
Hills has been with Norwich this season but will be best remembered for his spell at Accrington Stanley last season. He was their standout player, making 41 appearances for John Coleman and John Doolan’s side and won Supporter’s Player of the Year.
Dave Challinor has admitted previously that the club needed to sign more centre-backs in this window and recent developments have exacerbated that need. Fraser Horsfall suffered an injury at the start of January and is not expected to return for another month, whilst Sam Hughes was allowed to leave on loan to Peterborough United.
Most of The Hatters’ movements have been outwards, with Jack Stretton leaving earlier on deadline day and Lewis Fiorini being sent on loan to Dundee United. Only Micah Hamilton from Middlesbrough and Benony Andresson have been incoming at Edgeley Park.

Writer’s View
Brad Hills was a brilliant player for Accrington Stanley and deserves a chance to prove himself in League One. Stockport’s defensive fragility enables him to come in at a club challenging for the play-offs and when Fraser Horsfall returns he should have some great players alongside him in the back three. It feels that with the way Challinor sets up though that another centre-back should be brought in before the window shuts at 11pm.
