Burnley Look Set To Miss Out On European Target

Burnley look to have failed in their bid to sign Lazio’s Loum Tchaouna after the player has reportedly agreed terms with another club.

The French winger has played 24 times in total since moving to the Italian club but has only started three of 15 games in Serie A, with most of his playing time coming in the Europa League.

Dutch Club Set To Win Race

According to reports from L’Equipe, Burnley alongside three other sides were interested in signing Tchaouna on loan. They include PSV Eindhoven, Bologna and Stuttgart.

PSV have been ahead in the race, with the player indicating he would prefer a move to the Netherlands and his agent revealed in an interview with Lazio Press that personal terms were agreed between the two parties, and it is up to Marco Baroni’s side to complete a deal.

Emerging through the Rennes academy, Tchaouna made his breakthrough on loan at Dijon, where he earned a move to Salernitana, who sold him just a year later to Lazio for a fee believed to be in the region of €10 million.

For The Clarets, they are reportedly on the verge of signing winger Marcus Edwards from Sporting Lisbon, with Fabrizio Romano breaking that it is a loan move with an obligation to buy should certain criteria be met.

No sleep will be lost with missing out on signing Loum Tchaouna for Burnley. They look to have secured Marcus Edwards on loan and that seems like a much better fit considering his depth of experience in Portugal and his time spent in England with Spurs and Norwich City. It fills a gap in Scott Parker’s squad on the right wing alongside Jaidon Anthony. with Jay Rodriguez exiting for League One’s Wrexham, perhaps another striking option could be signed but with the return of Ashley Barnes, that will likely not be a priority.
