Wrexham are said to be fielding multiple enquiries for attacking duo Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer, according to journalist Nathan Salt.
The Red Dragons are chasing down a third successive promotion and currently sit third in League One. Their dreams of playing Championship football have taken a knock in recent weeks, with the Welsh outfit losing three and drawing one of their last five fixtures.
This has seen them slip to six points behind second-placed Wycombe Wanderers and eight behind leaders Birmingham City. As a result, owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have sanctioned the transfers of two attackers this week, with Sam Smith joining from Reading and one-time England international Jay Rodriguez arriving from Burnley.
New Arrivals Cast Question Marks On Future Of Key Duo
With Wrexham bolstering their attacking options, this has placed a question mark over the futures of Ollie Palmer and Paul Mullin. The pair have been pivotal to the club’s successes in recent years, with both playing a key role in their promotions from the National League and League Two.
Mullin has become a legend at the STōK Cae Ras since arriving in 2021, scoring 105 times in 164 appearances. However, he has hit the back of the net just three times in League One and has found himself in and out of the team.
Palmer penned a new deal in October that is set to run until the end of the 2025/26 season. He too has struggled in front of goal this season, also scoring three times with the last of those coming in November.
Wrexham Receive Approaches
According to Salt, Wrexham have received multiple enquiries regarding the availability of the duo. With Smith and Rodriguez both arriving, their futures have been thrown into doubt.

Difficult to say. From conversations I’ve had I’d consider both on the table if club decide to move him. Lots of EFL teams making enquiries for Palmer & Mullin today.

The journalist also states that both permanent and temporary enquiries have been made, although which clubs have made the approach is unclear.
Writer’s View
Unfortunately for Mullin and Palmer, the higher Wrexham rise through the divisions, the more likely it is that they will have to accept a bit-part role. They are both undoubtedly heroes at the STōK Cae Ras and they probably won’t be in any rush to leave just yet. They’ll still want to play a part in a potential historic third promotion. This could be one to watch in the summer rather than the next couple of days.
