Barrow head coach Stephen Clemence has asked for his Barrow team to stick together after yet another disappointing result in League Two.
League leaders Walsall beat the Bluebirds over the weekend, leaving them now nine games without victory in the fourth tier. Their record over the last five games, with two draws and three losses, have them second bottom of the form table, only ahead of Notts County on goal difference.
“It Does Hurt Us”
Speaking to the North-West Evening Mail following the result to The Saddlers, Stephen Clemence felt that his side are close to tasting victory once more.
“I’m disappointed with the result, but there were large parts of the performance I was really pleased with. We have to stick together, that’s what I always say.
“There’s still a lot of belief in that dressing room. I don’t think they feel a million miles away.
“I do feel, especially at the end of the game, when we lose Emile (Acquah) we lose a bit of physicality it does hurt us. That’s something we’ll try to improve going forward.”
Barrow do have some good fixtures to try and find the three points they have found elusive as of late, with matches against Fleetwood Town, Salford City and Tranmere Rovers rounding out 2024.
Writer’s View
Barrow have slipped back once more but this does not feel reminiscent of the final matches of Pete Wild’s reign at Holker Street. Under the former Oldham Athletic boss, their form in the final stages cost them very dearly and led to him parting ways with the club. Clemence does have plenty of time to reclaim some form and it does look like they are close to reaching that aim. These next three games should be easier to navigate and starting 2025 off with a bang could be the kick they need to get back into the playoff picture.
