Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head:

Since their promotion to the Football League, Salford City and their owners have been searching for the magic formula to elevate themselves to the third tier of the English league pyramid. Karl Robinson is the current man tasked with challenging for that elusive promotion and his side find themselves six points off the playoff places.

Consistency is proving to be hard to find for Salford as they struggle to find more than two consecutive league wins. They were defeated last time out at Gillingham, going down 1-0 at Priestfield.

That set back came after a four game unbeaten run in all competitions. An impressive draw at Doncaster Rovers and a 2-0 victory against Harrogate Town sandwiched an FA Cup second round victory against Cheltenham Town before defeat in Kent.

Notts County head across the country without a win in four and without a league win since the end of October.

Despite their poor form, Stuart Maynard’s side still find themselves just two points outside the playoff spots and have the Magpies have the fifth best away record in League Two so will be heading to Salford with hope of changing their fortunes.

Last season’s meetings saw a win for either side, with the three points going to the visitors on each occasion. The game in March at Meadow Lane saw Salford run out 2-1 winners with Conor McAleny putting in an inspired performance. He opened the scoring after half an hour before Danny Crowley put the hosts on level terms early in the second half. McAleny would go on to grab the match winner with just three minutes left on the clock thanks to a Callum Morton assist. The first meeting between the sides last season saw Danny Crowley lead his County side to a 2-0 victory in Greater Manchester. Crowley assisted David McGoldrick for the opening goal on 37 minutes before he wrapped up the points just after the hour.

Salford and Notts County had previously met in the 2015/16 FA Cup when the then Northern Premier League side dumped their League Two visitors out of the competition at the first round stage. Goals from former Manchester United striker Danny Webber and Richie Allen secured a momentous 2-0 victory for the Ammies.
