Bromley could lose manager Andy Woodman as a League One side have made him a potential target.
The 53-year-old is just shy of 200 games in charge at Hayes Lane and is probably best known for bringing The Ravens into the EFL for the first time through the National League playoffs by beating Solihull Moors on penalties.
Woodman Targeted By Cobblers
According to reports from Football Insider, Northampton Town have listed the Bromley boss as a potential successor to the outgoing Jon Brady at Sixfields. The Australian resigned from his post last week with The Cobblers facing a relegation battle and were in 21st place at the time of his departure.
The report suggests that Town chairman Kelvin Thomas is “a big admirer” of Woodman, who has brought Bromley into a strong midtable position in their debut season in League Two. The ex-Arsenal coach has a 45% win rate since taking over in March of 2021.
EFL clubs have previously targeted the former goalkeeper, with Gillingham having pursued him in 2022 to replace Steve Evans but opted to stick with Bromley due to the “ambition” in South London.
He is not the only target in the frame to take leadership at Northampton, with Macclesfield boss and former Derby County midfielder Robbie Savage being previously linked to the job.
Writer’s View
Andy Woodman has earned these potential links to established EFL clubs with his work in Bromley, but as was the case in 2022 with Gillingham, Woodman is likely to stick with his current side. The Ravens are continuing to build upon the past years of progress and surely are set to stay in League Two. If Northampton are targeting a manager with a form of success in the division below, former Barrow boss Pete Wild should be a person of interest for them with how he thrived with a ‘smaller club’ in a league like he did with The Bluebirds.
