Carlisle United Face International Setback

Carlisle United will have another injury headache after Terell Thomas was forced off the pitch while on international duty.

The St Lucia captain limped off the field whilst leading his side in a CONCACAF Nations League game against Curacao. It was his first game of the November international break after serving a ban for a red card.

News Leaves Blues Light

Thomas did not play for Carlisle in their most recent League Two game against Bromley, but this latest news will give Mike Williamson a major headache at centre-back for their next match against Doncaster Rovers.

Whilst Jon Mellish and Sam Levelle look set to play against the Yorkshire club, they will definitely be without Ben Barclay who triggered an automatic one-match ban after reaching his fifth yellow card of the season against The Ravens.

Former Wrexham player Aaron Hayden is another doubt as he is currently suffering from a bout of illness, meaning the club will have three fit centre-backs for the Doncaster match, with Archie Davies also capable of playing in the middle of the park.

Carlisle are edging ever closer to escaping the relegation zone, with their win against Salford City followed by the draw away to Bromley keeping them just one point behind Swindon Town.

Writer’s View

Carlisle United may have to rethink their game plan depending on what happens with Terell Thomas’ knock. He was able to take himself of the field with little support but he was limping and with his head in his shirt whilst heading down the tunnel. It will certainly be a nervous wait for Mike Williamson and the physios and should he be out of action, it may force a change in formation to a back four or perhaps risk Aaron Hayden with a premature return when they return to Brunton Park this weekend.
