Salford City will be without Dan Chesters for the rest of the season after it was confirmed he had an Anterior Cruciate Ligament tear.
The former West Ham United youth midfielder arrived at Moor Lane on deadline day of the winter transfer window. He has played 22 games for Karl Robinson’s side and made his loan move permanent over the summer.
22-Year-Old Ruled Out
“The winger was forced off the pitch 60 minutes into our 2-1 win against Swindon Town in October after sustaining the injury.
“Scans have revealed the extent of the injury, and following a review with a knee specialist Dan will require surgery.”
The Ammies do have other options to play at his usual right-back position, with former Portsmouth player Haji Mnoga a regular choice for Robinson in the position.
Centre-back Tom Edwards is also able to fill in at full-back but with a change to a back three formation, it is unlikely he will be deployed there. The long-serving Liam Shephard also made his return recently to feature in their recent matches against Shrewsbury Town and Carlisle United.
City have made a much more solid start compared to the poor form they faced at this stage last season and currently are in 13th place ahead of their clash against Doncaster Rovers.

Originally signed as a midfielder, Karl Robinson started to use Dan Chesters at right-back during a crisis in defence last season. He became adept at the position and now has found himself a regular feature and has been given the chance to come further forward with a switch in formation this season. It is a tough blow to lose the player but Salford City have plenty of cover in that part of the pitch.
