Midfielder Ethan Robson is likely to face a spell on the sidelines at Carlisle United after another injury issue.
The 28-year-old has only recently recovered from a previous setback with his hamstring that kept him out at the start of the season. He has made four appearances but was sent off in the most recent of those against Wigan Athletic and is currently serving a three-match suspension.
“Fingers Crossed”
Robson had been due to play in The Blues’ EFL Trophy match last night against fellow League Two side Morecambe but failed to make the squad entirely.
Williamson revealed that this was due to an injury concern, telling the News & Star:
“We’ll get it scanned and keep our fingers crossed for him.
“He felt something in the hamstring. But I don’t want to speculate on what it is.
“We’ll just have to wait and see.”
With his suspension currently being served, it does not give the former MK Dons boss any further selection headaches for their next match against Bromley this weekend, with Harrison Neal also unable to face The Ravens due to reaching the yellow cards limit against Salford City.
United are currently 23rd in League Two, but that win in Greater Manchester last weekend now puts them just a point behind Swindon Town and get the chance to escape the drop zone visiting south London.
Writer’s View
It is likely frustrating not knowing how severe this injury is yet for Carlisle United but it arguably has come at the best time for Ethan Robson. He is already serving a three-match suspension so was not available for these next two games and could even be back fit when the ban is lifted. The biggest headache right now is hoping he will be sharp enough to play when he does return and if not putting him on the right programme to reach a match-ready level.
