MK Dons Stars Send Payback Message Ahead Of Derby

MK Dons stalwarts Alex Gilbey and Joe Tomlinson are seeking to get revenge on AFC Wimbledon ahead of this weekend’s derby clash.

The pair were drawn together in the first round of the FA Cup, with the Buckinghamshire side drawn at home. They have already renewed acquaintances this season, with AFC claiming a dominant 3-0 victory at Plough Lane in League Two.

Loss Becomes Source Of Inspiration

In a fixture which Milton Keynes have dominated since they first matched each other, the two most recent games have seen the phoenix club come out on top. The most recent loss was under previous management, with now-Carlisle United boss Mike Williamson at the helm.

Crawley Town‘s Scott Lindsey and his staff were brought in afterwards, and have began their revolution at the club which has seen them ascend to get within touching distance of the League Two play-offs and ahead of their rivals.

Gilbey discussed how the team wants to get revenge on Wimbledon in the cup to the MK Citizen.

“I think we owe them after what they did to us at their place. Everyone is still licking their wounds after that one. Bring it on.

“It’s time for the player and the staff to build up the importance of the game. We can’t keep saying it’s another game, because ultimately that doesn’t work for us. I keep saying that. It’s unfair on the fans.

Wing-back Tomlinson added:

“It’s the big one. The last two have hurt, they really have. This next home game is massive. It’s easy to say it, but we have to go out there and show it. The fans have been brilliant so they deserve to see a win.

“That game, everyone in the dressing room knows how important it is to the fans and the club. We’re going to change what has happened in the last two times and we’re really confident for it.”

Writer’s View

In a match that means so much to both sets of fans, MK Dons will want to right the wrongs of the last two games against AFC Wimbledon. They were thoroughly off the pace in the most recent league match, leaving their opponents to revel in an easy victory. They need to deliver something in the FA Cup and get their own back to show how far they have come under Scott Lindsey.
