Stendel is being heavily linked with the Portsmouth job, but Charlton should be just as big a player in the employment market as Pompey, and Stendel would be a perfect fit for either. The 46-year-old German took Barnsley out of League One in 2018/19, then moved to Hearts, but left the Edinburgh club when they were relegated. He’s still young, hungry and he’s managed in League One as well as the Championship. They must act quickly though.
