Swindon, Tranmere and Mansfield – The Managers in the Frame

Nigel Clough

Clough junior left Burton in the summer seemingly as a consequence of the pandemic but is the red-hot favourite to take over at Mansfield Town. It would seem a good fit; Clough is familiar with the area having managed Burton, Sheffield United and Derby, both of which are close by. His Burton side consistently punched above their weight, spending time in the Championship and achieving a respectable finish last season. their implosion this time out proves the job Clough did was sound, and at 54 he still has plenty of years left. he would seem a much more PR-friendly appointment than Graham Coughlan or David Flitcroft, as he is respected and uncontroversial.
