Three high-profile clubs in League One and League Two are currently on the hunt for a new manager, and they won’t be the last until Christmas.
With Richie Wellens leaving Swindon Town for Salford City, the Robins become the first League One club to be hunting a new boss, although is results continue at Shrewsbury in the current vein we can see them looking soon also. In League Two, Mansfield Town are on the lookout yet again, with Tranmere Rovers also moving on their manager Mike Jackson after a horrible start to the season.
The same old names keep getting bandied about for the roles, but which of those managers are likely to pop up at those clubs? There are plenty out of work, but the clubs and the managers have to fit. Clubs such as Mansfield have shown that success isn’t transferable, Graham Coughlan did a great job for Bristol Rovers, but an awful one for them. The choices need to be as much about personality as tactics and ability.
