Free Agents Sunderland, Ipswich and League One Rivals Could Grab This Week

Ruben Sammut

Meet Ruben Sammut - the former Chelsea youngster who has signed for Sunderland - Chronicle Live

Sammut is one who would be well primed for a stint in League Two, having failed to make the grade after joining Sunderland from Chelsea. The young midfielder is 22 now, and his only senior experience came during a 12-game stint with Falkirk whilst at Chelsea.

Sammut is a holding midfielder, comfortable playing from deep, but he is now of an age where he must find a club willing to give him senior exposure. If his wage demands are low enough, there’s no reason why a club in League Two shouldn’t take a punt, given his pedigree.
