Jacob Butterfield
Former Manchester United youth Butterfield is without a club, having been released by Luton at the end of last season. Like Dougall, he is a holding midfielder who lamented the fact he wasn’t given more of a chance to shine at Kenilworth Road.
He’s spent almost all of his career in the Championship, appearing 289 times at that level, but as the season draws closer he may find a step down the only viable option. Born in Bradford, could he even go as far as League Two for a labour of love with his hometown club?
