FIFA 20 has proved to be hugely successful over the last couple of months, helping to fill in the gaps created by the lack of real action.
Whether it was the Stay Intertoto Cup, which featured players from real clubs competing, or the Ultimate Quaranteam Cup organised by Leyton Orient, fans have been turning to eSports as a way through the current madness. Admittedly, a few have looked to Belarus, or more recently Germany, but if it is English action you crave then I’m afraid it is all virtual.
The Stay Intertoto Cup, featured actual players representing their clubs against each other, firstly in group stages and eventually in a knockout. Top clubs including Liverpool, West Ham United and Leicester City all took part, as did a healthy selection of Real EFL clubs. However, the eventual winner came from France: Turkish defender Umut Bozok guiding Lorient to a victory in the final, beating Charlton Athletic’s Phillip Billing.
Before that, there was the Ultimate Quaranteam Cup, which was organised by League Two side Leyton Orient. Premier League club Wolves beat Dutch side FC Groningen in the final, with Melbourne Victory, Marseille and Benfica joining the likes of Finn Harps, Forest Green and Waterford. That competition saw professional eSports players come up against fans and proper players in a mish-mash of abilities.
FIFA then released it’s coveted Team of the Season cards, picking players from across the football world to receive hugely powerful cards. Whilst we have already looked at the fastest players in League One and Two, as well as those with the highest ratings, these cards blow them all out of the water.
So, which players have been chosen from League One and Two for the EFL TOTS? We look at all of them right here.
