Ipswich Town have decided not to take up options on contracts for three of their current squad.
Wide men Danny Rowe and Jordan Roberts have both been released, as has striker Will Keane, although the door isn’t closed at Portman Road just yet. They’ve been told they may get a reprieve, with the current situation causing so much uncertainty.
“With so much uncertainty over the game and the financial situation, it’s not feasible for the Club to take up the options on the players at the moment,” said the Blues general manager football operations, Lee O’Neill.
“The door is certainly not closed though and it’s a situation that we will look at again when the football world becomes a bit clearer.”
Roberts has recently returned from a successful spell at Gillingham, after a similar loan spell with League Two Lincoln City last season. Rowe has also been on loan at Lincoln, twice, winning the Checkatrade Trophy in 2018 and League Two in 2019. Former Manchester United youngster Keane has scored six goals in 29 appearances but did not provide the cutting edge the Tractor Boys required to mount a serious League One title challenge.
Supporters have been reacting to the news on social media, with one of the departures, in particular, causing them extreme concern. Rowe, who moved to the south-east from Macclesfield Town, is one player supporters feel could have something to offer for the League One campaign next season.

They have said they will review it. I’m sure Rowe will get offered a deal once we know what’s going on with football.

Think we need to move on. Our physio room has been full for too long and Rowe is a serial attendee. He's in his late 20's so not like to improve any further.

I think Rowe may get better so might be bad move to get rid
