If any player could make a huge impact on their new club this year, it is Ryan Hardie. We were excited when the former Rangers man moved into the English game, rocking up at Blackpool full of hope and expectation. he was highly-rated by those at Ibrox and seemed destined to tear up League One in a similar way Jayden Stockley did with League Two.

He hasn’t shone at Bloomfield Road, which is odd as neither has Joe Nuttall who stayed put this winter. Instead, Hardie has been sent as far away from his native Scotland as geography will allow, signing for Ryan Lowe’s Plymouth. Lowe, who achieved promotion with Bury last season, is looking to do the same this time around and we think he’s just given his side a huge helping hand.

Hardie is young enough to be able to learn from Lowe, himself a decent striker in his time, but he has all the attributes to succeed. He’s served his time in the lower echelons of Scottish football on loan and won’t be a stranger to some of the less luxurious places he’ll find himself, but he’s got the quality afforded by an upbringing at one of Europe’s top clubs.
