Our Three Predictions For Stockport County vs Blackpool

  • Prediction 1 – Ollie Norwood To Score – 14/3
  • Prediction 2 – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 9/11
  • Prediction 3 – Stockport County To Win – 17/25

First Prediction For Stockport County vs Blackpool – Ollie Norwood To Score – 14/3

One of League One’s top chance creators this season, Ollie Norwood, will have a good chance of adding to his sublime record so far this season. With three assists and four goals to his name so far, the 34-year-old sits behind only Wigan Athletic‘s Fraser Murray in the ‘big chances created’ metric on FotMob. With four goals or assists in his last five matches, the Northern Irishman is in fine form right now and available to play following his omission from Michael O’Neill’s squad for the October international break. Being the Hatters’ penalty taker and playing against a Blackpool side that have given away four spot kicks so far this campaign, Norwood could be a great shout to get a fifth league goal of the season.

Second Prediction For Stockport County vs Blackpool – Over 2.5 Goals Scored – 9/11

These two sides have had drastically different fortunes so far this season, and it could be a high-scoring game. Blackpool have lost seven of their opening 11 matches this season, but have recently done well in front of goal with eight goals in their last five, albeit with five being against Barrow in the EFL Trophy. Only Peterborough United and Leyton Orient have let more goals in than the Seasiders and head to a Stockport side that on their day will blow any opponent away. County have averaged 1.55 goals per game and with a leaky defence arriving at Edgeley Park, players like Kyle Wootton and Nathan Lowe will relish their chances.

Third Prediction For Stockport County vs Blackpool – Stockport County To Win – 17/25

There is a disparity between these two sides and despite any bounce that Blackpool may get from a manager change, Stockport should comfortably win. Dave Challinor’s side have lost at Edgeley Park just twice this calendar year against Mansfield Town and Bradford City, and will battle a Blackpool team that have not got a point on the road this season. This is a crucial game for Stockport amid a spell of mediocrity but they should get a strong result in this game to see them get back into the promotion conversation.

Full Preview Of The Game: Last Results And Head-To-Head

Stockport County’s rough string of results as of late has left them slightly left behind in the automatic promotion race heading into a disrupted weekend, but sit seventh in the table and level on points with Huddersfield Town in the last of the playoff places. County have won just two of their last five matches, and it was a victory in their last match in the third tier, beating the Terriers 2-1 in West Yorkshire despite being a man down for much of the second half. While they have some midweek action to tackle in the form of Greater Manchester rivals Salford City in the EFL Trophy, little is expected to change between that match on Tuesday night and the visit of Blackpool. Benony Andresson will be the only missing figure from the side that beat Huddersfield, having been called up for international duty.

The big headline of all of League One this week has been the sacking of Steve Bruce at Blackpool, with the decision to sack the former Newcastle United boss following their loss to AFC Wimbledon at the weekend. It was the seventh loss in 11 matches for the Tangerines, and their third in five matches, leaving them second bottom of the third tier. Blackpool looked lost against the Dons at Bloomfield Road, having just three shots total and were well-beaten by the League Two playoff winners. Stephen Dobbie and Steve Banks take interim charge of the match against Stockport, but no new names have emerged as to a new permanent successor.

Last season was the first time in nearly two decades that these two sides faced each other, and it was a double for Stockport as part of their playoff push, winning 3-0 at Bloomfield Road in the opening stages of the season, and won 2-1 at the start of march in Stockport.
