Lincoln City Secure Agreement With 31-Year-Old

Lincoln City defender Adam Jackson has signed a new contract, keeping him at the LNER Stadium until at least June 2027, with the potential for an additional year.

The 31-year-old, who joined from Hibernian in August 2020, is now entering his sixth campaign with the Imps and stands as the club’s joint longest-serving player.

Long-Serving Leader Stays Put

Jackson made an immediate impression upon arrival, scoring and helping secure a clean sheet in his debut against Oxford United. That 2020/21 season ended with Lincoln reaching the League One play-off final at Wembley, with Jackson a mainstay throughout.

Since then, he has amassed over 150 appearances in red and white, often wearing the captain’s armband and earning respect for his leadership, consistency, and professionalism on and off the field.

Speaking about the deal, head coach Michael Skubala praised Jackson’s impact within the group.

“Adam is a valued member of the group, highly respected within the dressing room and a consistently top performer at this level,” he said. “He adds experience to the squad on and off the pitch, trains well every day and sets standards for our young players.

“With Tom Hamer, Sonny Bradley, Ryley Towler and Lewis Montsma, we have a really strong unit in a crucial area of the pitch with an array of attributes that provides us with flexibility and good competition.”

Director of football Jez George echoed the sentiment, highlighting the rarity of such loyalty in the modern game.

“In modern football a player remaining at one club for so long is rare, so we really value Adam’s loyalty. It speaks volumes of him as a person.

“Adam has always represented the club in an exemplary manner, on and off the pitch, wearing the armband on many occasions, and that leadership is felt every day at the Elite Performance Centre.”

Jackson’s extended stay adds further stability to a defensive core already bolstered by new arrivals and long-term figures. With City aiming to build on their 2024/25 mid-table finish, his experience and consistency will likely prove crucial once more.

Writer’s View

This is an outstanding bit of business from Lincoln. While summer additions grab headlines, retaining someone of Jackson’s calibre and influence is arguably just as important. His presence will help younger defenders such as Ryley Towler settle, while also offering continuity in a back line that’s seen its share of changes in recent seasons.

In a squad increasingly shaped around youth and potential, Jackson’s renewal provides the calm, experienced spine needed to turn promise into results. A smart move that reflects City’s evolving but grounded recruitment model.
